Gai Jatra, also known as Saparu, is the day to remember the lost ones and pray for their departed souls to rest in peace. It is followed extensively by the Newar community in Nepal. Every year people who have lost their family, relatives, and friends take Gai Jatra as the day to commemorate their lost family members, friends, and relatives and alleviate the grief by sharing them with others.
